David: Hello and welcome to a little mini-episode of Strong Sense of Place. We are here today to talk about the beginning of Season Three. Season Three launches on May 10th. If you’re listening to this on a day we released it, that’s just two weeks from today. We are super excited about it.

Melissa: Yeah, this is the big reveal. Yeah. These are our destinations where we’re all traveling together for the next six months. [cheerful organ music] Very exciting!

David: Very exciting!

Melissa: We put the list together by using our very complicated matrix of every continent in the world and a couple of places in the United States and fascinating themes and talking to our patrons on Patreon, and our audience survey —

David: And a complicated array of artificial intelligence bots and possibly some booze. And we came up with a list that we think you guys are going to love.

Melissa: Ok, so we’re going to tag team the list.

David: Yes.

Melissa: Because that seemed like a hokey-fun thing to do. You want to tell them what the first four are?

David: We are starting on May 10th with Hollywood and then we’re going to Costa Rica, then the newsroom where we will be visiting with reporters and —

Melissa: Typing on typewriters —

David: Typing on typewriters —

Melissa: and smoking cigars.

David: The fourth one is the Arctic.

Melissa: Which was a very popular choice during our survey and on Patreon. After the Arctic, we head to Egypt, which was also wildly popular.

David: I was surprised.

Melissa: This gets us to the middle of July. So we have chosen the theme of summer getaway so we can share some fun beach reads, some books about vacationing.

David: Yeah. Book set in places that you might go on vacation. Like an amusement park and that kind of thing.

Melissa: Yeah. Get a little summer action going. Yeah, that’s followed up by Vancouver and Greece.

David: And then we end up the season with Burma.

Melissa: Also known as Myanmar.

David: Also known as Myanmar. I know nothing about Burma, so I’m excited to find out more.

Melissa: We’re all going to learn together.

David: And then we’re going to head up to the northeast corner of the United States for Maine and then Israel. And then we wrap up the season on October 11th with the forest.

Melissa: Which was, again, one of the most popular responses from our patrons and our survey. I feel like people are craving outdoorsy stuff right now.

David: I wonder why? All of that starts in just two weeks on May 10th.

Melissa: May 10th!

David: And we will talk to you then.

We love this sweet poem that perfectly captures the magic of getting lost in a great book. If you think you don't 'get' poetry, give this one a try.
When your day has demanded too much of you or your list of household chores is just too long, let an experienced storyteller work their magic. You'll turn your day around and take a virtual journey to somewhere else.
Let these stories whisk you away to the beaches of Mexico or the castles of Prague, to Japan or Morocco and the Sea, to a country manor house or a delightfully spooky place that makes the real world tame in comparison.
