SSoP Podcast Mini-Episode: Dave's Emergency Surgery

SSoP Podcast Mini-Episode: Dave's Emergency Surgery

Monday, 26 July, 2021

Astute listeners will by now have noticed that our podcast has been MIA since May. We’re sorry about that! And in these special episodes, we tell you why.

If it were a novel, this story would be a terrifying thriller with a happy ending.

Here’s the spoiler: In mid-May, David had emergency colon cancer surgery. He is OK now: cancer-free and healing very well. But the past few months have been a stressful, bumpy ride with so many feelings.

If you’re sensitive to conversations about illness, cancer, hospitals, and emotional anguish, you can listen to this mini-mini-episode in which we talk a bit about what to expect regarding our schedule and what we did for fun on our first day of being fully-vaccinated.

If you’re curious about the specifics of what happened and what it was like for us to navigate healthcare in a foreign country, here’s a longer story about how it all went down:

We will be back with our usual book- and travel-related episodes as soon as we can. The best way to stay informed about an updated schedule and other news is our free weekly newsletter — sign up right here.

Thank you for your patience and support as we navigate this challenging time. We appreciate you!
